Another new still has been released from ‘Mainstream’. You can see that in the gallery. The film will premiere tomorrow at the Venice Film Festival.
Just in time for Andrew’s birthday, The Film Stage has released the first still from ‘Mainstream’ along with a synposis. You can see the still in the gallery and read the synopsis below.
Just above Hollywood boulevard, lives FRANKIE (Maya Hawke) a young woman in her early 20s trying to navigate who she wants to be. With the death of Frankie’s father still lingering, Frankie knows she wants to do something of meaning but isn’t sure how and with the world in a current state of so much content and narcissism, it’s hard to not “compare and despair.” Stuck working as a bartender at a corner comedy club with her best friend JAKE (Nat Wolff) Frankie questions what people today really value.
It isn’t until she has a few cosmic run ins with the mysterious LINK (Andrew Garfield), a man that seems to live life without rules that it inspires Frankie to film him and upload his anti-mainstream rants onto the internet. Together, with the help of Jake, this unlikely band of outsiders rise to internet stardom.
However, it’s hard to stay sane when the pressure of relevancy becomes important and new characters, like manager MARK, (Jason Schwartzman) start making demands to bring in money. To make matters more complicated, Frankie and Link start getting romantically entwined. Frankie watches as Link becomes the epitome of everything he once denounced. It isn’t until Link publicly humiliates a young fan ISABEL (Alexa Demie) and Jake quits the team that Frankie really questions if she is also becoming the monster she helped create.
A love story of being in love with someone who doesn’t love themselves set against the new emerging culture of today’s world.
Since things are quiet at the moment, I decided to add images from the movies the gallery was still missing. So you can see stills, caps, posters and behind the scenes images from ’99 Homes’, the critcially acclaimed ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ (for which Andrew received an Oscar nomination) and ‘Silence’ and ‘Breathe’. So the gallery is as complete and up to date as it can be. Enjoy!
The year is ending, and as the last post of the year, I have added all the short movie related images to the gallery. From ‘Mumbo Jumbo’, Andrew’s first ever film appearance, to Arcade Fire’s ‘We Exist’ music video. So do check them all out.
This year was quite good for Andrew, with ‘Angels In America’ coming to Broadway and him winning a Tony award for his portrayal of Prior Walter. But there was frustrating news as well, with ‘Under the Silver Lake’ being pushed back from June to December and then again to next year. But at least we have something to look forward to with both that movie and Andrew’s new project ‘Mainstream’. So see you all next year.
While we’re still waiting for ‘Under the Silver Lake’ promo to start, I have updated the gallery with stills, behind the scenes images, posters and screencaptures from four of Andrew’s movies, codenamed ‘Claim to Fame’. So you can find all the aforementioned things for ‘Never Let Me Go’, ‘The Social Network’ and both ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ films. Enjoy!
‘Angels In America’ has now concluded its run on Broadway adn Andrew is taking some time off. So what better time than now to look back at his early work on TV. I have added stills and screencaptures from all of Andrew’s TV series apperances from his boy next door Tom in ‘Sugar Rush, to adventurous Frank in ‘Dr. Who’ to his comedic stint on ‘SNL’, you can see them all in the gallery. Enjoy!
Since news have slowed down and there’s nothing new to report, I updated the gallery with images from all of Andrew’s theatre projects that have images available. There are stills, behind the scenes and promotional images from everything from ‘Kes’ and ‘Burn/Chatroom/Citizenship’ to ‘Death of a Salesman’ and ‘Angels In America’ on the West End. Enjoy!
